The Lex 100 verdict on Memery Crystal LLP

An ‘open and friendly atmosphere’ combined with ‘lots of responsibility, great quality work and a good amount of client contact’ define Memery Crystal and are a big draw for trainees. One recalls that ‘I felt like the firm was looking for and appreciates individuals and not someone who fitted a specific mould’. Contrasted with peers elsewhere, there are ‘fewer extremely late nights, more opportunities to submit first drafts of documents, more partner/senior contact’. Interaction throughout the firm is praised by trainees, with one saying ‘I’ve got to know every member of each department personally throughout my contract, and everyone I’ve worked with has given me a good amount of responsibility at an early stage on interesting/exciting matters’. Negatives mentioned include difficulties preparing bundles after hours, slow communication of seat changes and occasional urgent ‘3 am bundling’. Trainee highlights include ‘attending a security for costs hearing’ and ‘working on an urgent injunction, helping to prepare and file the application, preparing the necessary bundles and attending the hearing, which we won’. Most trainees reported a ‘mostly positive’ reaction to the pandemic’s training changes.  A friendly firm with high client contact, Memery Crystal is worth exploring.
