Newly-qualified (NQ) salaries at the London office of US firm Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom have risen from £118,000 to £133,000.
The increased amount firmly places Skadden NQ pay above that of Lex 100 firms Milbank, Sidley Austin and Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton.
However, at £143,000, freshly-qualified lawyers at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld, Debevoise & Plimpton, Kirkland & Ellis and Latham & Watkins continue to earn the most in the City.
Trainee pay at Skadden has also gone up. First-year salaries have been raised from £45,000 to £50,000, whilst second years now earn £55,000, up from £50,000 previously.
The move follows recent announcements from Freshfields and Clifford Chance that the firms were increasing NQ salaries to £100,000.
