Baker McKenzie Announces 71% Trainee Retention Score

Baker McKenzie has revealed that 12 of its 17 spring qualifying trainees will stay on at the firm, a score of 71%.

Three of the newly-qualified solicitors (NQs) will join Bakers’ corporate practice and three will join the employment department. The IP team and EU, competition and trade team will welcome two NQs each whilst the banking and dispute resolution teams will receive one NQ apiece.

An annual salary of £77,000 awaits the newly-branded solicitors. You can compare trainee and NQ salaries here.

Baker McKenzie training principal Arron Slocombe said: “We are very pleased to welcome another strong group of trainees into permanent roles as qualified lawyers across both our transactional and advisory departments. Our retention rate remains high this spring, although not quite at the level we have seen previously. Attracting and retaining the best talent is crucial to grow our business and that’s why we give our trainees the best opportunities for a successful and fulfilling career.”
