“We are delighted that all of our trainees have been offered, and have accepted, positions within the firm. What is particularly significant about this is that we were able to offer each of them their first choice of practice area on qualification this year,” said Mei Lian, Shearman & Sterling’s training principal.
“Our ability to hire and retain the best and the brightest, and to enthuse them about a future with us shows just what an exciting business Shearman & Sterling has in London,” adds Nicholas Buckworth, London managing partner.
This marks a considerable improvement on Shearman & Sterling’s recent retention rates, which stood at 75% in 2014 and 85% in 2013. The training programme has been established in the London market for 16 years and offers the option for most trainees to complete one of their four seat rotations overseas.
