ABOUT NOTTINGHAM LAW SCHOOL
Nottingham Law School, part of Nottingham Trent University, is one of the UK's largest law schools, with a reputation for delivering innovation and excellence in legal education. We support students at every stage of their legal training from undergraduate through to Masters, research, professional and practitioner levels. We place great emphasis on providing the skills that will help to secure the best possible start to your professional career, and our students benefit from our award-winning pro bono scheme and a dedicated careers and recruitment service.
LEGAL PRACTICE COURSE
Our highly regarded LPC has received the highest possible rating in every Law Society assessment and can be studied full-time or part-time. The course has been designed to be challenging and stimulating for students and responsive to the needs of firms, varying from large commercial to smaller high-street practices. Our flexible LPC allows you to specialise in a particular practice area with corporate, commercial and public legal services pathways available. Alternatively you can choose to keep your options open with our broad based pathway. Our LPC allows you to select a pathway after the course has started, meaning you can choose which practice area is right for you after experiencing professional law first hand.
BAR PROFESSIONAL TRAINING COURSE
We are one of only nine establishments validated by the Bar Standards Board to deliver the BPTC. Our highly-regarded course has been designed to develop a range of core practical skills, and to equip students to succeed in the fast-changing environment of practice at the Bar. Particular emphasis is placed on the skill of advocacy. The BPTC is taught by qualified practitioners and utilises the same integrated and interactive teaching methods as all of the school's other professional courses. Students learn by doing and we provide an environment in which students are encouraged to realise their full potential.
GRADUATE DIPLOMA IN LAW
For non-law graduates who intend to become solicitors or barristers in the UK, we offer the opportunity to pursue qualifying law degree status through the Graduate Diploma in Law by both full-time and distance-learning study routes. This intensive course covers the seven core subjects of an undergraduate law degree and successful completion of the GDL, at first attempt, guarantees students a place on our excellent rated LPC and consideration for our BPTC. Students who complete their GDL with us and then embark upon our LPC or BPTC may also be eligible for a Graduate LLB on successful completion of their professional course.
