We take a personalised approach to your learning experience and aim to develop you into the professional, dynamic, highly motivated, practice-ready lawyers of the future.
GRADUATE DIPLOMA IN LAW
(full-time)
Started in 1976, this internationally renowned course was one of the first of the Common Professional Examination (CPE) programmes for non-law graduates. The course is designed to provide you with the knowledge and skills traditionally gained from an undergraduate law degree in just one year. We teach you the seven core legal subjects through a variety of lectures, tutorials and seminars. At The City Law School you also have the unique opportunity to convert your GDL into a full LLB degree by taking additional units.
LEGAL PRACTICE COURSE
(full-time)
Our LPC has repeatedly been awarded the highest possible grading by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA, formerly The Law Society). The course is skills-based and replicates the demands and disciplines of practice through realistic exercises, fully preparing you for professional legal life. You are taught in small groups by qualified solicitors on a wide range of specialist subjects. At The City Law School you can add value to your LPC by completing an additional research project to be awarded an LLM in Professional Legal Practice.
BAR PROFESSIONAL TRAINING COURSE
(full-time and part-time)
Our BPTC delivers effective training for future barristers and equips them with the key legal skills and networking opportunities to pursue a successful career at the Bar. The core skills of advocacy, opinion writing, drafting, alternative dispute resolution and client conferencing are taught in the context of procedural and evidential knowledge in both criminal and civil practice. Pervading the course are the skills of effective legal research and case management, as well as ethical professional conduct. The effective and flexible use of modern technologies on the course is designed to enhance students' learning experience. At The City Law School, you also have the opportunity to gain an LLM in Professional Legal Skills, awarded on successful completion of the BPTC and a supervised dissertation.
