The Verdict

Yorkshire firm Lupton Fawcett attracts trainees thanks to its 'friendly atmosphere' and 'great reputation'. With offices in Leeds and Sheffield, the firm also offers trainees a 'great work/life balance' and a wide variety of practice areas. The 'high-quality' IP department and 'good' standard of training are other bonuses and current trainees report feeling like 'a valued member of the team' from day one. Trainees are encouraged to get as much experience as possible whether it be 'attending trials in the High Court' or 'getting involved in and completing a series of complex property transactions.' And if this sounds a bit daunting, don't worry: there is plenty of 'excellent' supervision from the 'friendly and approachable' colleagues. There are some grumbles about the quality of internal communication and some trainees feel pressure to meet targets. Depending on the seat, trainees would also like to see more work delegated to them and the process of seat moves can be frustrating. However, if you are looking to put down Yorkshire roots and want to work for a 'leading regional player', then Lupton Fawcett looks like a very good choice.
